seventhvoice Seventh Voice blog. Firstly, let me just say, that I blog about anything and everything under the sun because like everyone else, my life is made up of more facets, than just one. My son has Autism and I will always write about our experiences together. My daughter has Asperger’s Syndrome and I myself am an adult Aspie. My life is filled with so many different aspects and ways of being that it is a veritable kaleidoscope and so too is my blog. I’m a mother, an academic, a researcher, a philosopher, a writer, a poet, a feminist and an amateur photographer, but most importantly of all, I’m a human being with my own unique ways of taking in this world. For all of these reasons my blog is somewhat of an eclectic space. Filled not just with issues and concerns dealing with Autism, but also with my own experiences and imagination, poetry and photography. I’m also passionate about sharing the works of both adults with Autism and parents of children with Autism within my blog space. To this end I regularly open up my space to those who feel that they have experiences, views and stories of their own that they wish to tell. So from time to time you may find the words of others appearing in all their glory across your screen when you click on my name. If so don’t panic. This is exactly how I wish it to be and if you, yourself would like to contribute please feel free to contact me. In the meantime I hope that you will find something of value amidst my ramblings. People with Asperger’s syndrome, a high functioning form of autism, are often stereotyped as distant loners or robotic geeks. But what if what looks like coldness to the outside world is a response to being overwhelmed by emotion – an excess of empathy, not a lack of it?.
